HOUSTON, TEXAS --Harris County Houston Sports Authority CEO Oliver Luck announced today that the Impact Player Hall of Fame Ceremony will be held at the Sugar Land Marriott Town Square on Sunday June 5, 2005. The ceremony honors twelve individuals who have achieved the highest level of performance in their career of choice along with a lifetime commitment of serving others.
"We look forward to honoring all inductees and we welcome the Impact Player Hall of Fame Ceremony to our great city," said Oliver Luck. "This event provides us with the opportunity to thank leaders in sports, the private sector and also our military heroes who are in harms way every day over in Iraq and Afghanistan: Some of whom having paid the ultimate sacrifice."
The event will be hosted by Brian Kilmeade of FOX and friends. Inductees include: President George H. W. Bush, Coach Dom Capers, David Robinson, Roger Clemens, Ben Crenshaw, Roger Staubach, Bum Phillips, retired Army Specialist Danielle Green who lost her arm in Iraq, Sergeant Mike McNaughton who lost his leg in Afghanistan, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Thomas Parr, the late Pat Tillman who left the glamour of pro football to serve his country and the late Captain Andrew R. Houghton, a native of Houston, who lost his life fighting for our freedom in the War on Terror. Moreover, thirty severely wounded heroes back from Iraq and Afghanistan, will be in attendance and honored.
"It is certainly an honor to be inducted into the Impact Player Hall of Fame," said Houston Texans Head Coach Dom Capers. "I know I join so many in our country who appreciate the tremendous sacrifices our nation's military have made to protect and defend the United States. In athletics we spend a lot of time talking about selfless commitment, sacrifice and teamwork. These men and women represent the truest spirit of these words. I am proud to be selected as an inductee and feel very grateful for the sacrifices these young people have made for all of us."
The Impact Player Hall of Fame Ceremony is part of the "Impact A Hero" Weekend where over thirty severely wounded War on Terror heroes will be brought to Houston and honored. The Houston Texans are a major sponsor of the "Impact A Hero" weekend and the Houston Astros will honor our severely wounded War on Terror heroes during the seventh inning of their game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday June 5th.
The proceeds from the Impact Player Hall of Fame Ceremony benefit our severely wounded War on Terror Heroes through, Impact Player Partners, a non-profit organization.
